Medical Examiner

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this thread- I don't know where else to post it where people can reply.

Anyway, since I am fascinated with medicine and crime, I want to be a medical examiner. I tried to get a lot of information about becoming a medical examiner, but I couldn't.

1) How many years will it take to be a medical examiner (including college and medical school)?

2) Is an undergraduate degree in molecular biology acceptable?

3) What is the average salary a year?

4) Can a medical examiner do some research outside the lab (having two different jobs)?

(I want to do the same thing, its more pathology than medical examiner though)

1) Medical Examiners have one of the longest residencies (7 years)
2) You can major in Woman's Studies for all they care (I am double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Political Science)
3) I couldn't tell you to tell the truth
4) Medical examiners I would presume make their own "schedule", however you have deadlines of course and I think it would be too time consuming to do more research...
