What is the medical program like at BU. What does one need to get into this program. What must the grades be and SATs. Does anyone have the avg for that program? Thank you.

i think the avg. was like 1500 SAT (old), top 1 % that whole deal, look on the website

i was recently accepted to the program
my stats, if ur really curious

SAT 730CR 780M 800W (2310)
ACT 34 comp.
SATII math750 chem760 lit690
WGPA 4.6 ranked 2 out of 705
good public high school in IL
female asian (which really does NOT Help)
speech, amnesty international, lit. mag, math team, science club
music music music, im really into flute (regional/state accomplishments) i think i sent in a CD
i did an AWESOME internship last summer, 6-weeks, got paid, and got to see literally EVERYTHING that goes on in a hospital
i have crappy volunteer hours, probably like under 200
my dads a doctor (if that helps)

...no pt to apply i have got SAT I and II scores and rank in to 10% but nothing else is comparable...only 25 hrs volunteer work never worked in a hospital so i guess ill jsut take the regular route to med school

no just apply anyways
if u think ur SATs arent high enough
take them!!
trust me, they look beyond numbers, they want someone with drive and passion
a good interview might change things

park i beg to differ lol. not to brag or anything, but i have done way more stuff than you and have been very passionate in the medical field, but my sat/act scores were not good enough, and i didn't even get an interview. and a person from my class had like almost perfect sat, but did absolutely nothing in the medical field, and she got in the program.

i have high SAT scores but is my GPA which is good, but not great, and medical extra co. which are lacking. I want to be a doctor for sure, but i have not volunteered at hospitals or done other things along those lines. Volunteering at a hospital would pain me knowing that i can do nothing to actually help them survive whatever ailment brings them there whereas a doctor has the means to do so, however because my dad is a doctor he gets lots of anestesia magazines and i read some of the articles because i find medecine a truly facinating subject. So i have been conteplating applying to the BU medical program but im not sure if its worth it whith my medical extra co. and real proof of my interest in medecine lacking.

well i agree with otacon, in certain aspects
these med programs are in nature, competitive
and i think u have to pass the screening process to get an interview- this is where the SATs and grades matter
but seriously tho, SATs are something that can be improved, whereas ur EC's cant be changed as much, so if ur SATs arent up to par (2250-2300s), work on that first
but no one really can deny the kind of passion or interest u have

i totally feel u tho Otagon
i applied to like 10 of these programs and didnt even get an interview for half of them
i think progs like USC Bac/MD, NU HPME, and Case PPSP pay more attention to the scores first, and i probably didnt pass the screnning process
