Anybody on here in this program? My AP Bio teacher told me he has put two of his students in this program, and that it is very hard to get accepted.

Can anyone give me more details, facts, info?

Also, is this geared specifically to practicing MDs, or should I be interested in this, even if i don't want to become a doctor? (I want to go into medical research; my major at UCSD is Bioengineering: Biotechnics).

but it only seems to concern UCSD acceptance - thats not what im asking.
i read the thread (maybe the same one you’re talking about) and i do not see anything about career choice.

Don’t worry about it unless you have near perfect stats. I"m being serious. THey only accept like 15-20 students, and those students have to be the freaking insane ones with 2400s and perfect GPA/ECs.

when you get the invite to the med scholar program, you’re invited to attend a seminar down at UCSD. they tell you that you have already been accepted.

MiniatureDrone has it wrong. The invite is just an invite, not an acceptance. MiniatureDrone may be referring to Scholar’s Day which is for Regent’s Scholars.

I have a question. I got the invitation to apply for UCSD’s SOM Medical Program and I already got into UCSD. I really want to go to Medical School. If I get into UCSD’s SOM Program, should I go there or to UCLA? Which one would be my best choice if I want to go to Stanford Medical School? Thanks for the help :)

i wonder if me not turning it in had anything to do with waitlisting… most likely not, so in that case, im glad i didnt spend the time on essays and letters of rec, because that would have been wasted.

you could have tried submitting without recs… lol

They can’t obligate you attend UCSD medical school, but it is highly expected. They will make you sign something saying you will attend UCSD med, although it isn’t binding.
