Does anyone know what percentage of pre-meds get accepted to medical school, or for that matter, what percentage of people who initially want to attend medical school do (to account for potential weeding out). For example, i heard 78% at cornell and 89% if you have a 3.4 gpa though this didnt account for weeding out. thanks

For Wash U

95% of premeds that have a 3.5 or higher are accepted to med school somewhere. (incredible).

Nationwide, there are 32,000 med school applicants, and I read somewhere that about half get into some med school (keyword some). However, some people refuse to believe this as it seems too high, and might be about a quarter. Anyways, there are 16,000 med school spots open a year, so the best students may take up more than one?

Yeah! Well from what I have heard and read, pre-med is killer at Wash U. Then again, thats probably why they have such a high percentage of acceptances in med schools.
