I am an international student and I am going to start my college life at Luther College this Fall Semester.I have not decided my major yet but I am interested in Medicine and Health Profession.

I have took advises from some sources of information but unfortunately, they told it is nearly impossible for international students to get admitted to med school here.

So I have some questions to cast

Is admission to med school available to international students?

If it is, how about my chance to practice medicine after years of training in comparison to the local MDs?

What should I take at undergraduate to have the safe backup plan of career?

Thanks for reading.

It is available but at significantly less schools than citizens.
Here is a list of med schools and there policies [NAAHP: Medical School Admission Policies Towards Non-U.S. Citizens](- NAAHP)

After completing med school your chances should be about the same as citizens.

Depends on what you want to do. Although you could always consider training in your own country.

Hope this helps.

Edit: The reason why people say it is impossible is because the pool of schools you can choose from is significantly lower but mainly because of the cost. Most medical schools have nothing in terms of financial aid for internationals and many require the full tuition (200k+) be put in an escrow account before they even allow you to start.
