<p>which of the TV series is the most realistic portrayal of a career in the medical field? ER, Scrubs or Grey's Anatomy?</p>
<p>I've heard it was Scrubs, but personally I've never watched it before. I LOVE Grey's Anatomy though! I used to watch Chicago Hope and I thought that was pretty good as well.</p>

<p>Scrubs most accurately displays a lot of the day to day staff interactions and when they hit on a really medical sort of topic it's usually not some disease but rather the inter- and intra-personal conflicts that surround the issue, and they usually do a really good job with it.</p>
<p>ER's biggest problem is that it's like 2 week's worth of an actual ED load compressed into one 8 hour shift...with all the boring patients left out of the picture.</p>

<p>ER and Scrubs are not particularly accurate, but at least they are recognizably based on reality.</p>
<p>Grey's and House are so far gone that they might as well be talking about hedge funds. You'll get a better sense of the medical field from watching Lost than from Grey's.</p>

<p>Oh wow, I didn't know Grey's portrayed real hospital life that poorly ... I have a handful of friends who are interested in becoming surgeons just because of that show! What a shock it'll be for them.</p>

<p>House SUCKS. The show's unrealistic and the characters are shallow (except for House himself). Hell,even Dr House couldn't diagnose the broad side of a barn.</p>

<p>Ha, this thread reminds me of a conversation I had with a visitor at the hospital I worked at this summer. He was visiting (saying goodbye actually, he was leaving on vacation) his girlfriend who volunteered & did odds and ends up in the OR. I ended up having to drag him through the pre-op area, and his only comment?</p>

<p>The show that came closer than any other show to reality was St. Elsewhere, which was on TV about 20- 25 years ago.</p>
