Meeting people at orientation

How easy is it to make friends there? I ask because I will be attending alone without a parent and on an orientation date in which no one I know will be attending. I don't want to be walking around alone haha! Also, do a lot of people bring their parents to this thing?

it is my understanding that parents aer not allowed with students during the student orientation, or at least for part of it… i think they have their own. i for one am not bringing my parents, considering my sister’s already been going there for 2 years…

Well I just talked to a friend who went to the ucsd orientation. He said it was awkward but by lunch he was fine haha

When I took my older son to orientation at CU Boulder, I told him that I would stay until the first person showed up. This was the night before orientation began for a get together of students. He was pretty shy.

I left when the first person showed up and he has turned out to be one of my son’s best friends. By 2 hours later, he had 10 instant friends.

no worries im sure your not going to be the only person thats alone. Everybody is going to be wanting to meet new friends too so dont be afraid to talk to people

i just got back from my ucsb orientation and it was sooo easy to make friends. if you don’t approach someone and introduce yourself (which i highly highly HIGHLY recommend) then someone will most likely approach you. just be open minded and it’ll be easy, dw about it.

Humans are sociable beings.

of course you are gonna meet ppl at a massive event like this. :)
