Meh ACT Scores for Top Tier Schools (Rice,CMU)

SAT II: 800 M2, 800 Chem</p>

<p>Class Rank: 9/309</p>

<p>I have phenomenal extracurricular activities, recommendations, and essays, but I am worried that my 33 ACT score will hurt me for these schools:</p>

<p>Rice University
CMU SCS
Cornell
Washington University in St. Louis</p>

<p>33 is a pretty decent score. It should put you in the average, so if your ECs, recs, and essays are phenomenal you should be good. Best of luck!</p>

<p>OP, just curious, is there a reason that you didn’t take the SAT?</p>

<p>@IxnayBob I took it and I got a 2140 the first time, which is not as good as my 33.</p>

<p>OP, okay, makes sense. I don’t do chances, but I think you’re fine for the schools you listed. </p>

<p>Ar Rice, for example, the 25th percentile was 31, the 75th percentile was 34. </p>

<p>If your school uses Naviance, take a look. If not, look at each schools Common Data Set. </p>
