Ok, maybe the title is misleading. I'm curious how men fit into the social scene at Smith? Given there are no male schools as far as I know in the area but I'm sure Smith girls date and all that, I'm just curious where the people they date come from, if guys visit campus a lot, etc.

Guys come to parties on campus, and they also take classes at Smith (since we're part of the Five-College consortium) and Smithies take classes at other colleges. So a lot of people meet that way. Also, students who are in activities that travel to co-ed events (Fencing, Chorus always does concerts with the Naval Academy, Smith Democrats do campaigning, etc.). So Smith girls who date men usually meet them that way. Also, many students come to Smith with boyfriends already, and many aren't interested in men at all. So it varies.

Smith is full of Blade Runners.

Uhh, I have no idea what that means. Somehow I don't think you're referring to the movie, but if Northampton has a replicant problem I'm sure there are plenty of females willing to take up the charge...

I checked urban dictionary, but I don't think you'd say that about the Smithies, so...

Have any polls been taken on campus to find out what % is gay?

There was some kind of student-conducted poll run a couple year's ago that put the gay population at 11% I think, though Smithies are notoriously lazy about turning in forms of any kind, especially voluntary ones, and personally I think the actual number is somewhat higher. In my experience, it's about a 20-70-20 ratio of gay, straight, and questioning respectively. Maybe I'd par that down to a 10-10-70-20 of gay, bi, straight, and questioning.

Yeah, and I'm also unclear what Blade Runners has to do with anything.

lol, and by 20-70-20 I actually meant 20-70-10.

And I equally meant 10-10-70-10.

I'm not a math major, don't worry.

Well you could have overlap between the gay, straight, and questioning populations

somehow i don't think it's in TheDad's character to refer to Smithies as the urbandictionary.com #2 definition for "blade runner".

Haha yeah, that's the one I saw LAC. Actually, my location is a blade runner quote so he was probably showing off his geek creds

For the uninitiated, this is the smithie in her natural state

And this is her dreaded foe

...according to The Dad :P

More like I was trying to out BG as a replicant, given BG's stated location. See also, dropping a depth charge next to a submarine, forcing it to surface.

As for UD def 2...umm, no.

Anent "Blade Runner," in my younger days I bore a remarkable resemblance to Harrison Ford. Over the years my appearance morphed into that of Johnny Depp as per PotC I.

Geek cred? TheDad don't need no steenkin' geek cred.

And beware of geeks bearing gifts.

Someone thinks highly of themselves :P

Someone thinks highly of HIMself ("someone" is singular; "themselves" is plural).

hahahahahhah gosh it's always the smith forum!

"Anent "Blade Runner," in my younger days I bore a remarkable resemblance to Harrison Ford."

He did, too. You can't possibly imagine how far he has fallen since. ;)

Well, he (she?) certainly is brash but just as certainly is no gentleman.

FP, I'm singular in more ways than one.

Mini, 'tis far too true. D doesn't like it when I do my Depp PotC thing in public...it's mostly in the shoulders and hips. "Stop it, Dad...you do that too well."

(More than) one singular sensation.

I am a MAN, man!
