Men's soccer at Case

My son wants to attend an academically challenging school with a strong Division III soccer program. Does anyone have information about the Case Men's Soccer team which is nationally-ranked? How do athletes and non-athletes mix?

Wow, I didn't realize they were 17-2-2 and ranked 15th in the country last year.

You should contact the coach, and meet with him and some players.

I think it's interesting to note that this fall's homecoming will highlight the soccer team instead of the football team. Apparently the football team's schedule changed after the homecoming date had been set and rather than change the weekend of the festivities, the home soccer game will be the athletic highlight.

I have had classes with a few of the soccer players and overall they seem to be a great group of guys. Athletes and non-athletes mix if they want to - one of my good friends is a swimmer, and I'm acquaintances with several people who are involved in other sports. The teams seem to get along well overall, but politics, long practice hours, academic stresses, and general frustration can start to wear on the students' nerves after a while. The people I know who are in athletics at Case love it and have stuck with it for 3-4 years, so the good far outweighs the bad in most cases.

Coach got back to my son pretty quickly when my son inquired 1 1/2 yrs. ago.
Coach stated he already had 2 players at his position that were all americans. I was pretty impressed/surprised for a div III "science" school. Son attended elsewhere.

I presume there are recruited athletes at Case. Are many of the players on the team recruited? Would it be tough for a non-recruited player to make the team? I guess these would be questions son will ask coach.

My friend is on the team. There are recruited athletes, but the UAA doesn't have scholarships for athletes or anything, it's division 3. I think that if your son talks to the coach he can be recruited in that when he goes for the stay over he'll stay with a soccer player and everything. I'm not sure about what the deal is, if he is a good student, he could probably get in. If he wants to play soccer in college, he should check with the coach if he can realistically play soccer. The team is pretty good. I think We were ranked #5 in the country and #1 in the region.
