should i mention on the fact that my family filed for bankruptcy this year on the "additional info" portion of the uc appliction? is it important for them to know? or do they not care? if they do care, should i explain the circumstances, or should i just leave it at that?

I think it would matter because of financial aid.

Sure... circumstances matter... put it in...

No this is not the type of additional information they are looking for on the application. Additional information would be clubs or activites which don't fit anywhere else, special awards, etc.
If you are accepted you will share financial information on the FAFSA.

Mention it....your accomplishments in light of family circumstances will emphasize your achievements.

i have to go with ebeeeeee with this one, because it is nothing too significant in terms of academic achievement.

the additional info part is NOT for Clubs and activities that don't fit anywhere else. It's for you to explain certain obstacles or hardships that you've endured that have affected your academic career. Illness, bankruptcy can all fall under this category. You should put it in. Putting it on the FAFSA alone will not let the admissions officer see it.
