Could someone please tell me how common it is to get merit aid at Scripps? I know there are a few big prizes. Are there others? Thanks!

I don’t think there are any percentages about how many students have merit aid specifically, but if I had to ballpark, I would say that about 10-20% of my class receives merit aid. I give a wide margin because financial aid is one of those touchy subjects that people don’t tend to broadcast. If you’re applying in this round, you’ve missed the merit aid deadline, but there are still a couple prizes that all students are considered for.

Thanks. This is for the future, my daughter is only a sophomore, but the school looks wonderful, and she could only go with merit aid.

Well it’s a good thing to look at early, because the merit aid deadline (Nov.) at Scripps is earlier than the regular decision deadline (Jan.), but this is to give the admission officers extra time to get to know scholarship finalists during a 2-day program in February when students are flown to campus at Scripps’’ expense. It’s a great way for students to get to know the school and to increase their chances of a more than satisfactory aid package.

Just an update to this - Scripps no longer has a separate merit aid deadline. All students, regardless of whether they apply early or regular decision, are considered for merit aid.
