What is the typical aid for scholars program admits? I have really high end stats for the program, based on what I've seen here. And better than some who were accepted to the honors program. Does the honors program typically see more in the way of merit aid, or is it possible I could still recieve 4-8K a year?

One other question, since not all honors invitees accept their offer, do some others get offered honors admission once they decline.

I'm in scholars and I don't think it has the more personal approach (i.e. honors classes) that I'd be looking for at UMD. I dont want to have only huge classes.

xeneise -- if you want, you can apply for the honors program after your first semester at UMD. also, keep in mind that honors does NOT mean a lot of smaller classes! your honors seminars will be smaller, but that's only a class each semester. so by doing the scholars program, you wouldn't really be missing out on smaller classes.

I'm in Honors--Are we allowed to take more than one Honors seminar per semester? Also, we can take as many H-version classes as we'd like (I know non-honors invitees can take h-versions as well)? Are H-version classes also usually smaller than normal classes?

You can't sign up for more than one seminar until like a couple weeks before the semester starts. You can take as many H-versions as you can--they're usually capped at like 30-35 students.

some of the h-versions still meet with the regular section for lecture, and just have a smaller or more intense discussion section. this was the case in one of the h-versions i had originally signed up for (a history class). they wanted us to be in the same lecture as everyone else, but write longer papers and do more reading. i was taking 5 other classes--no thanks!!
