Merit Scholarship for students accepted in ED

Any thoughts on whether students accepted via ED ever get any Robertson or AB/BN merit scholarships? Know anyone who has ever gotten one that way?

I am assuming that Duke would have no reason to give merit scholarship to anyone who has already committed themselves to Duke. They would rather use that 200K to lure really competitive candidates who would otherwise end up in Ivies like HYPS

What do you all think? Any ED students out there who have gotten notification for merit scholarships?

I don’t know any ED student that got a merit scholarship, but that doesn’t mean none exist. I would think it might be more possible for an ED student to get an alumni endowed scholarship (must be legacy; usually only 1-2 a year, sometimes zero) or perhaps Karsh International Scholar, but the others seem unlikely since, as you said, there is no incentive for Duke to give it to you since they know you’re committed to going.

My son applied ED last year and was a Trinity Scholar. I think those students have been notified for this year.

My friend was admitted ED this year. He was notified by email last week that he is a candidate for the AB Duke merit scholarship.
