Merit Scholarships at Wake

The WFU website says that merit scholars generally have at least a 1500 on the SAT. How much of a "rule" is this? I have a 34 on the ACT and a 1470/2260 on the SAT. Will this completely exclude me from the selection process?

no not necessarily…it’s usually more than just SATs/ACTs that they base merit scholarship on though.

Thanks! I have a 4.00, strong ecs, and 800s on my SAT IIs, but I’m not very good at the SAT I. Hopefully that won’t completely inhibit my chance (though I’m not expecting anything…OOS is competitive at Wake).

Does anyone know of someone who was offered a merit scholarship at Wake and submitted ACT rather than SAT I?

My son was offered a merit scholarship and only took the ACT with a score of 35. Academic scholarships are extremely limited and hard to obtain at Wake. He received a 15K a year scholarship at Wake and a full ride at Emory. Guess where he is currently matriculated?

Merit scholarships are very competitive. The 1500 that they speak of is more a description of a typical candidate. It is not a hard-and-fast rule.
