My son would like to do EDII, but we are concerned because we have no idea of the merit scholarship he may receive. We will not get need based financial aid. My son has a 33 ACT and a weighted GPA of 3.92. However, he only has 1 AP class in Physics in which he has an A for Fall Semester. I would appreciate anyone who has been admitted sharing the merit scholarship they received and some basic information about their child’s testing and GPA. He has his heart set on this school, but we have his sister attending college the next year.
- You could look at previous results and see what similiar stat kids got.
- Also if you look at Case’s Common data set:
n) Number of students in line a who had no financial need
and who were awarded institutional non-need-based
scholarship or grant aid (exclude those who were
awarded athletic awards and tuition benefits)
384
o) Average dollar amount of institutional non-need-based
scholarship and grant aid awarded to students in line n $ 23,573

What does he want to major in?
@ATL Family There are additional scholarships at CWRU offered for junior and senior year of college, from the CIT alumni association, which are easy to apply for and win. The stats you mention should be enough for some merit. It depends on many factors as to how much merit a student will win, including options things like SAT subject exam scores, whether your son will play a varsity sport or other factors like the major. Nursing for instance has its own set of scholarships. Dance and music also have their own set of scholarship at Case. . When you have two in college, the expected family contribution will divide by two. Once you have two in college, you may aid from both CWRU and the other school, depending on your savings and other factors. Its not a guarantee, especially since you don’t know where the daughter will attend. If it ends up being a much lower cost, or if she wins a full ride, than the CWRU may not budge much for years 2-4.
My DD admitted EA: Unweighted GPA 4.92; 4 AP courses, 3 more this semester; AP Scholar with honors; 1490 SAT; 32 ACT (not submitted); extracurr sport competed at national level 3 times. Presidential scholarship I think was 21K? Also 5K loan. I have not idea why they offer that?
@mom517 are you saying you don’t know why they offer the 5K loan? That is max amount a student can borrow on their own and all colleges offer that.

Has anyone received an update regarding the competitive (essay required) scholarships? Just trying to understand where in the process they are. When we inquired, we were told mid March - but we’re not sure if that is for notifications of interview/in the running or notification of final results. The website indicates students will receive final results by April 1. So, now we have no idea. Any information regarding the timeline would be appreciated. Thank you!
Searching in this forum I saw:
‘My daughter emailed them and they said finalists would hear by March 20th. Non finalists would not be notified.’
I think finalists need to go on campus for an interview.
I encourage you to reach out to your admissions counselor and ask.

Yes :-). I was not sure why they include that because everyone can get it so isn’t it just assumed?
@mom517 I don’t think all schools have to offer it, and it makes the bottom line look better. For them. Some parents are only concerned about the money THEY will have to spend, at consider the student loan as their kid’s debt. There are all sorts of reasons, so it makes sense they put it there.
