Merit Scholarships

Where would I get the most merit based scholarships as an OOS? I will only have 50k from my dad for 4 years of college. I need the rest to come from scholarships as I do not want to take out loans.

TCNJ
Franklin & Marshall
Marist
Muhlenberg
Dickinson
Moravian
Connecticut College
Drew
Rampo College of NJ
SUNY Potsdam
SUNY Fredonia
Trinity College

A lot of the colleges on your list are private - OOS will have no bearing. It will depend on your stats, etc.

what about now?

bumppp!!!!

Connecticut College does not offer merit aid.

From research and what not I've narrowed it down to

Dickinson
Franklin & Marshall
Marist 55/45
Muhlenberg
Ramapo College of NJ
SUNY Potsdam
TCNJ

If money is a concern, why not just stay in-state? I can understand wanting to get away from home, but it seems silly to go to SUNY, Muhlenberg, or Ramapo when UGA and Georgia Tech have far better academic reputations...

Also, of your current list, I'm a bit skeptical about Dickinson...with your SATs, you probably wouldn't be eligible for merit money.

I already told myself if I didn't get enough money to go out of state for all four years that I would not go out of state.

As for Georgia Tech, it's one thing getting in...it's another STAYING in and being successful. lol.

Franklin & Marshall
Marist
Muhlenberg
Ramapo College of NJ
TCNJ

bump

Here's the website for Muhlenberg.
<a href="http://www.muhlenberg.edu/finaid/merit.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.muhlenberg.edu/finaid/merit.html</a>
From that, you should be able to tell your chances as well as any of us can.

TCNJ says that its the average OOS student who gets a merit scholarship is 1250; you're a bit below that.
<a href="http://www.tcnj.edu/%7Eadmiss/apply/ScholarshipsOut.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.tcnj.edu/~admiss/apply/ScholarshipsOut.html</a></p>

Finding this information on the websites of two colleges took me less than 2 minutes. You might find it easier to do a bit of research on your own.

Trust me I have done a lot of research. I was just hoping maybe someone had some other insight or even personal experience.

If you look at the SAT ranges for each school, you can figure out if your stats put you above the 75% score. I'm guessing that you are unlikely to get significant merit aid unless you're in that top 25%, because schools are trying to attract top students with high scores and GPAs relative to their student body. That's just a rule of thumb, but I don't have knowledge of any of your listed schools. Have you looked at the possibility of outside scholarships? Maybe there's something related to dance or other ECs. good luck!
