I have two friends who are B students with 2000ish SAT and they both got 38,000 a year from BU on a scholarship that was not listed on the site. ?

Are you sure it was merit aid and not need-based?

yes all merit. and they do not have any extraordinary accomplishments by any means whatsoever. They are both extremely wealthy. I'm really confused since I see a lot of people here with much better stats who and much more need who don't get much at all. ?

Quite honestly, I do not believe you and will not believe you unless you can come up with the details. To whoever else reads this - I don't believe BU offers 38K/year in merit aid to someone with 2000ish SAT scores. Something doesn't fit. Either the wealth really isn't there and it's need-based aid, or someone is just telling you a story.

I have a piece of land I'd like to sell you! It's beautiful land and can be developed into prime real estate. Oh, did I mention that it's swampland? But I'm sure you can build on it.

I found it hard to believe myself as both are visibly wealthy (million dollar houses and the cars) and mediocore students and non-leaders at best. It's called a "students scholarship". They are close friends of mine, I'm convinced they are not lying.

I've never seen anything about that... BU is $48+K a year...Why would they do a $38K scholarship? Most of the scholarships are half or full. I'm suspicious.
