Merits of the Honors College

Could any current students or administrators speak to the rigor and quality of education of the VCU Honors College?

It’s like most other universities’ honors programs. It’s geared toward higher achieving students. They take a certain number of courses for honors credit where they are challenged more than the typical course. In addition they get certain privileges such as special housing, priority registration, etc. perhaps the biggest benefit is the ability to apply to guaranteed admissions programs in the university’s graduate or professional schools.

In short is a cohort of higher archiving students that are engaged in stronger curriculum and given extra benefits.

A Mom of a prospective honors student here. The Honors housing at VCU is amazing - a private room with a private bathroom. The Honors dorm appears to be very social with communal space on every floor and some of the honors classes are taught in the dorm. As someone who lived in a quad (yes, 4 freshman girls in the same room) and a bathroom shared with 30 people, a private room with private bathroom/shower sounds like heaven.
