Does anyone know how good the honors college at VCU is and how much it will help students there? I have gotten a substantial scholarship here, and I want to know if it is worth attending over UNC Chapel Hill, where I have no merit scholarships.
Choice of VCU over UNC would depend on many things.
What is your major? And how do both schools compare?
Price? With no merit aid at UNC, can you afford UNC? What debt would you have at each school?
What are your plans after completing your undergrad degree?
I don’t know how to answer the “how much will the Honors College help you” question. I know my son (and I) were impressed with the Honors College dorm. The actual Honors College program seemed similar to other schools’ Honors Colleges.
I want to major in public health or chemistry. I can afford both. I want to attend medical school after undergraduate studies.
I know the dorm is all single rooms with their own baths at VCU Honors. The building was a private hospital built in the 1970’s but it’s right on the academic campus. I have no idea about the actual program. Chapel Hill would be hard to resist. There is a med school sub forum on here somewhere and there are actual med school graduates who post. I have seen a school of thought that endorses going to an “easier” under grad to boost GPA for med school acceptance. What an agonizing decision. Good luck.
@OspreyCV22 @WaitingInCPA Thank you both for helping me!
