mess up my phone interview. should i email them?

i just messed up my phone interview. i supposed they would call another phone. so i just had the interview at somewhere i felt not very comfortable. in the first half of interview, i felt so nervous that i said something not so...meaningful...

they knew that i was surprised by their calling a number i didn't expect. should i do something to remedy...? e.g. email to express my interest and to tell my situation, which was actually my fault that i didn't remember the number i left for them.

what do you mean a number you didn’t expect? Did they page you while shopping, to pick up the courtesy phone? ;-)

not that unexpected =). i just thought they’d call my mobile and i could have the interview sitting relaxed, with my computer and notebook in front of me. But it turned out i needed to answer the call in the middle of a corridor with none of those ‘tools’ around. Well. i guess i can only blame myself.

do you guys have the experience that after having a not-so-good interview but still get accepted to a competitive program? the two interviewers did try to convince me how good their program was at the end of the interview and wanted to set up an interview with one of the PI of my interest. Is it a sign that i’m still in the race?

i think i just freaked out and tried to look for some comfort. anyway thanks!
