I chose UC Davis over UC Berkeley and it was not until after I paid the non-refundable deposit did it really dawn on me. The only reason I picked UCD over UCB was the GPA deflation scared. I am bummed out with my choice since I will miss out so many opportunities at Cal. I thought everything out, but after picking Davis I feel so emotionally wrecked. If anyone with financial comfort is willing to help me out please pm me. Any tips, will the regret go away or should I just try to find the money for Cal and lose my Davis deposit?
You can change your SIR to UCB today, you will just lose your enrollment deposit from UCD. To me it seems you have buyers remorse. There is a reason you picked UCD but it is not too late to change your mind but if there is are financial issues such as you and your family taking on a large amount of debt to attend UCB, then I would definitely think twice.
Thank you for the reply. Both schools have a 33k net cost with no grants, regents, honors. My remorse is that I picked Davis because I was scared that I would get to stressed out at Berkeley, but I am disappointed that I won’t be challenging myself with the best of the best.
Again, you have until midnight to submit your SIR to UCB and withdraw from UCD if that is what you want.
I used another person’s credit card to pay the Davis SIR fee and feel deep regret. I’m scared to tell that person I changed my mind and I don’t think they will offer to pay again and will probably be annoyed.
Academically both are great UC’s and both will be competitive so although UCB may be known for grade deflation, UCD will not be a cake walk either. You selected UCD for hopefully other reasons than being afraid of grade deflation so “bloom where planted” and make the best of the opportunities available to you at UCD.
