I am a current high school junior, I've had shitty grades this year, I fell into a bad crowd, I didn't do drugs or anything, but I realized I truly want to become a doctor, I want to help people and save lives. My GPA is a 2.2 and I had a 26 on my ACT. Is it too late for me? I really want to be a neurosurgeon, as I am truly fascinated by the brain. I've been told I'm quite brilliant by my teachers as long as I put in work. I was thinking community college, and then UIUC. I believe I can do it, but I just want to know, is it too late?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, don't feel sorry for me
I did this to myself and I take complete responsibility for it

It’s good for you to take responsibility. The first step to fixing a problem is to admit that you have one! You mention that you are thinking about community college and then UIUC, and I personally think that that is the best option for you. With your GPA and scores, you will not get into UIUC, so if you do community college and work hard while you are there, then you will probably be able to transfer. I think that it is too late for you to improve enough to get into UIUC straight out of high school, but it’s not too late to go to community college and then UIUC!
