We would like to know more about studying engineering at Miami. I have read everything I can find on the Miami website and through a Google search. I would like to know more about facilities, professors, job prospects, and anything else worth sharing. And has anyone co-oped? How about undergraduate research? Would you go to Miami again?

We would also be interested in hearing from some current Miami Engineering students!

I am going to bump this up. This is very important information for my son and his (perhaps overly involved) parents.

Bump.
I see the word “bump” quite often, what does that mean?
@StewyGriffin When you “bump” a thread, it becomes the most recent posting on the board and moves the thread up to to top for (you hope) some new people to see. In my case, I have not received answers to the questions I asked, so I bumped it up.
Bumperino!
I went to Miami before they had an engineering program. Their main tech offering at the time was Systems Analysis, which looks pretty similar to the Ops Research option now available. Is this relevant? For the last 20+ years I’ve been working in embedded control systems, mostly with EE’s, ME’s, a couple of physicists, and a surprising number of aerospace engineers. I am overall satisfied with the degree. Have not interacted with engineering grads of Miami, so can’t say what it looks like from the corporate side today. Our program was more business than control system oriented, so my case is probably unusual. However, DD is looking at schools for CS starting in 16, and Miami is in the mix along with Rose, Case, Purdue, and a couple others. I’ve looked at the program, and so far I’m very comfortable with that.
@50N40W Thanks!
We visited Miami and the Engineering College in March. My follow-up post is at: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/miami-university-ohio/1763948-computer-science-and-engineering.html#latest
