Miami Ohio or NC State or George Washington for combination engineering and business

My son has been accepted to these three(and UNC, Stetson, Rollins and UNCW). Thinking of both engineering and business. What are your opinions of these three schools. Of course UNC is probably the most prestigious, but they have no engineering.

He has a $19k scholarship to Miami (OOS) and $25k to GWU - but even with those NC State is far cheaper

What are your main concerns with respect to the school? The quality of the programs? Cost? Ability to obtain a job post-graduation?

Further, the GW forum might now be the best place to ask a question about other schools, as students/parents in here haven’t necessarily looked at the other schools. If I had to answer just for GW, however, I’d say that it’s an excellent choice if your son wants both engineering and business (notice my bias, haha). GW’s engineering school isn’t top-rated, nor is its business school, but I think that both are strong (business school more so), so any combination of the two is just as good, if not better. Also, I like to mention internship and networking opportunities at GW, given the location in such a rich job market. That, alone, can have a serious impact on whether or not your son can line-up a job after graduation, at least if it’s somewhat local.

The money, as I’m sure you’re seeing, is a huge drawback to GW. Even though $25k/yr is very generous, he’ll still amass quite a bit of debt over his 4 years if the majority of the rest of tuition is covered via loans. Most jobs out there aren’t worth being buried in debt upon graduation.
