My nephew has narrowed his decision down to these two schools, Farmer vs. Broad, but couldn't make the decision yet. Unfortunately, he is an international student so visiting both universities is not an option for him. He asked me for opinions, so I hope this forum might help me with useful suggestions. Thanks.

Oldest D almost went to MSU and MU is one of final two for youngest D. MSU is likely a more diverse student population and being bigger will have more options in general. We were there 3 times and always like the feel of the campus. I would search out a learning community for int’l students at both schools. Although not all that far apart, MSU will get more snow and climate is not quite as good due to its location. Oxford is a smaller college town than East Lansing as well, but not too far from Cincinnati.

Can’t comment on B schools per se, but I know Farmer has a lot of strong accounting ties. I would suspect very comparable, but nephew may want to view curriculum at both to see what is more suited for interests. MU placement seems very strong. Hospitality (not sure housed in B school) at MSU is one of the best in the country.

Thanks IS12MOM.

It would be very hard to choose the right one without visit. They are so different, I would say, location is on opposite sides of the spectrum. D. had applied to both. She realized that MSU is not what she was looking for. Again, location is more important for some and not important for others. She dropped MSU after the visit. She graduated from Miami last May and still conisders it the persfect choice for her UG. However, please, research further and do not rely on others to make a proper choice for you. In addition, D. was NOT in business, she was a pre-med.
