Miami U. (Farmer) vs MSU (Broad)

I also posted this on the Miami U. forum. However, I would like to hear from the MSU forum as well. My nephew has narrowed his decision down to these two schools, Farmer vs. Broad, but couldn't make the decision yet. Unfortunately, he is an international student so visiting both universities is not an option for him. He asked me for opinions, so I hope this forum might help me with useful suggestions. Thanks.

Are finances an issue? If so, did either school give him help?

IIRC, Miami is rather isolated. One of the really nice things about MSU is that it’s really close to Lansing, a major city, allowing plenty of big-city opportunities. Also, there are few universities in America better for international students than MSU.

Thanks Romani. International students hardly get financial aid anyway, so money is not an issue.

Saw this thread and I had to comment. Both are great schools and I agree with what everyone has said thus far. Just some numbers to throw at you (that’s the business education coming out…)

2012 BusinessWeek Undergrad Business School Rankings
Miami U (Farmer) - #23
MSU (Broad) - #51

Miami is #2 in the nation for study abroad (41% of student body goes abroad) and has a huge international focus, particularly in international business where 60%+ Farmer students go abroad.

Hope that helps. Good luck on the search

Miami, can you show me where it says Miami is 2nd in the nation? I can’t find them anywhere in top lists.
