Miami U offered me a deal: Should I take it?

I will be graduating from a small liberal arts college in the Midwest in May and applied to several schools around the US for graduate programs.

I got into the Master's Program in Political Science at Miami University in Ohio and received a full out-of-state tuition waiver and a 93% remission of in-state tuition. On top of that, they offered me an assistantship worth $11,000. Do you think it is a good deal considering it is only a master's degree?

I am waiting on hearing back from Florida International University (PhD in IR) and Seton Hall University (Whitehead School).

I am so confused as to what to do next as decisions have to be made pretty soon since I am an international student and haven't applied for OPT.

Is it a good offer or should I wait for the other two to get back to me?

Thanks!

I think thats a great offer. You can always apply to do a PhD after a masters. Miami is a great school for poli sci.

I got into Miami for MS in chemistry. I have been living in Cincinnati for the past 5 years, and decided to go back to school after 5 years of work. I got a simular offer for Miami (tuition remission & stipend). I think they have money to spend, and they are one of the few schools that have funded MS programs.

Of course it’s a good deal - master’s programs are rarely funded. However, if your goal is a PhD, I would wait to hear from the other two schools first - especially since poli sci PhDs tend to be fully funded. If you need to, ask for an extension of your decision deadline, saying that you would like to be informed before you make a decision.
