Miami University or Ohio State University?

I've narrowed where I want to go to University down to Ohio State University and Miami University of Ohio. I've been accepted to both and tuition is not an issue.
I'm being really indecisive because I really like both.

Any suggestions that might help me make up my mind?
Anybody have any opinions about either school that might help me make up my mind?

Lots to compare and not knowing you or what is important to you …imajor, etc. I attended Miami in the 80s when it was the premiere public university and have a dd at Ohio State now. School spirit, OSU wins hands down…other than hockey, not much fan base or spirit wear sightings on a regular basis. Beauty, MU…while OSU has it’s spots, overall Miami has few blights. I used to marvel at it everyday. Dorms, give to MU here for room size and quality of housing available…even off-campus seems more manageable. Greek life is bigger at Miami but nice at OSU also and housing for sororities a plus not available at MU. Both offer academic excellence and social opportunities. My dd loves OSU and has found lots to get involved with. I find the campus easy to navigate on my visits and she has tons of big ticket concerts, speakers and arts events to attend. All important to her. She is honors and has had no trouble getting classes and schedules really early into the quarter. Her advisor, especially for exploration, was very accessible and knowledgeable, so much so she would recommend it as your major choice even if only deciding between two options. I loved Miami and would recommend it highly also…wish I could have convinced her to consider it more seriously but ds liked it enough to apply there and is wait listed…our admissions experience has been frustrating in terms of communication. OSU has been great in that area from a parent perspective. Happy to answer any questions!

I just don’t know which one would suit me better.

I’m plan to major in Biology, and I want to go on to Med School. Which school do you think would be better for this major and if I plan to go to Medical School?
I live in one of the biggest cities in the world right now, so that would make me think OSU because it’s in Columbus. However, in this big city, I’m only involved in a small community.

I visited both campuses, and I liked Miami’s campus, and housing better. But on the other hand Ohio State probably has more to offer because of it’s size.

Still not sure what to do . . .

As you know, neither has a pre-med major, just an advised area of concentration. Miami does not have Biology as a major, just Zoology…unless things have changed. it was my major, with a pre-med slant…meaning you take the all those pre reqs like chemistry, physics, etc. I found most zoology classes designated for premed students to spend a few weeks discussing other species and then the bulk of semester was human so well prepared. I did not choose to prepare for mcats and med school, instead graduated and got my masters in health administration. I grew up near Cincy and my friends from further away love Miami’s proximity to Cincy…while enjoying Oxford…never got bored with its offerings.

Here’s a good idea of Miami’s placement to Medical School. You can always contact their Office of Career Services and ask for current data.

@jacob1992 which college did you choose to attend? Why did you pick it? Are you happy or regretful of that decision? I am currently in the same boat as you were 3 years ago! Hopefully you get this… thanks

MU has a biology major. OSU is a giant state school, MU is a mid size and operates on a liberal arts curriculum. Really they are nothing alike. Both are good and given your ability to make good grades and score well on the MCAT, your chances at getting into med school are about 61% from MU which is much higher than most schools.
