Hey everybody,

I am an international student from Singapore, thinking of applying to Umich. I am, however. not sure how good a school it is.

BAck Ground. SAT 1550, 2300, combined best 2350- 800 780 770
SAT II 780 790 800

I have pretty strong ECs

I am a student in probably the top school in Singapore, it has a great reputation with American colleges etc. I am a decent student, good but not top of my class - this is the top 3% of the country in the school, so loads of smart people.

Just want to know, do u think Umich can be considered a safety, MAtch or a reach school for someone like me.?

Any info or helpwud be great,Thanks.

you suck. :D i bet you're likely to be in. RJC?

haha banedon are u from singapore too? Yes RJC, the acceptance rate is pretty good from rjc, i think last year 96/98 or something like that. Just wanna find out info, looking at applying to michigan..

I think you have a really good shot at getting in here (not saying chances because I really don't know... I'm just a student in LSA). However, I don't like how I'm getting the drift that you're basing how good the school is on your chances of getting accepted because you shouldn't be doing that (especially with Michigan). EVERYBODY here is smart (a.k.a. were at the top of their classes in high school), and Michigan has great programs available to us in most areas. You'll find your competition and niche here no matter who you are.

My roommate this year is from singapore. He seems to like it here a lot...

Academically, Michigan is amazing. Only a handful of universities in the World can offer as much as Michigan. The environment at Michigan is also quite special. A great place to spend your undergraduate years. Obviously, Michigan is not quite at the level of MIT or Stanford, but it is not far behind. As far as your chances, given your stats, I would say Michigan is close to a safety, but you never know with Michigan. I would recommend you apply to Michigan as a safety, but have another safety (like Purdue or Wisconsin-Madison) just in case.

Thanks alexandre and u guys.

The only Reason I am applying to michigan is because it is a top-clas institution. I wouldn't otherwise. IF i get in, I'm sure it would be great. I just wanted to judge myself to see what kind of school can i consider it - I need 2-3 sure safetys, because I cannot end up in a situation where i get rejected everywhere I apply. I still want to go to a good uni of course.

Thanks alexandre for the suggestions for safety - any other possible ones?

What do you want to major in?

Econs ; while dabbling in other interests.
for michigan I was thinking of applying sch of engineering.

In the case of Econ, forget about Purdue. But Wisconsin would be a good safety.

um..ok, thanks man.
