Michigan 31, MSU 13

mich jumped over WVU and is #4 now

Only in the AP poll. Michigan still ranks behind WVU in the coaches poll.

The bad scenario is that should OSU loses, say to Minnesota, before we beat them, we may not be ranked #1 or #2 ... if both Florida and USC stay undefeated.

I still remember that exciting game where in 1991 FSU visited Ann Arbor...and beat Michigan 51-31.

USC is weaker than their record shows... whenever you lose 90% of your offense in one season expect a huge decline in the overall quality of your team. Yes they are still a good if not great team, but not good or great enough to be in national title contention. They will lose either to Notre Dame or Cal. They have not been tested yet.

Leak is playing like a monster and him and Troy Smith are probably Heisman frontrunners now with Brady Quinn not far behind. Leak is running the offense incredible and they absolutely handled a very good LSU team.

Michigan will most likely run the table until they meet OSU. If you look at the stats, Michigan does not do well at the Shoe. The last win at the Shoe came in 2000, and before that in 1996. Michigan just doesnt play that well at Columbus. And, Henne thusfar is unexperianced in big games. Yea i kno he played in the bowl game but OSU vs Michigan with national champ hopes on the line is a completely different level.

The thing is if Michigan and OSU were to play, say, this week or last week, and Michigan lost but ran the table the rest of the way Michigan and OSU might be the title game. But cuz they play last game of the season it wont turn out that way.

Just out of curiousity, how the hell has Notre Dame jumped up to number 9? We wrecked their **** and they got unbelievably lucky in that MSU game where they played like crap for 50 minutes.

and alexandre, the strength of schedule argument against florida is not convincing. just look at UT Austin's scheudle last year. they were only dogs in 2 games (USC +7 and OSU +1) and for all the other games where there was a betting line they were at least -14 point favorites. the two times they were dogs were also the only two times they played a ranked team.

To me, Brady Quinn is like Fredo from the Godfather: he's dead to me. He's no longer in contention as far as I'm concerned. People can talk about him as a runner up all they want, but he could NEVER win after what we did to him. You just can't justify it.

Ditto for South Bend since '94, though. The bottom line is that this is a different team.

I'm with you all the way on this one.

Maguo, Peterson is out. Seldom does a player from a 2-loss team win the Heisman. If OSU goes undefeated, Smith will win it. If Michigan goes undefeated, Hart or Henne wins it. If Notre Dame finds a way to finish 11-1, Quinn could win it. I just cannot imagine Peterson winning it. I realize that the Heisman issupposed to goout to the best player, but the best player should help his team win. Peterson has not done that. It is sad really because even in Oklahoma's two losses, Peterson managed to run for over 300 yards and 2 TDs. But at the end of the day, being part of a not-so-great team will hurt him.

Crouton, I am not sure I agree with you regarding the impact of the Michigan vs OSU game. Most huge games take place later in the season, including Florida vs FSU, USC vs Notre Dame, the SEC, ACC and Big XII championship games etc... That's when the teams make the biggest impact on the polls. If Michigan and OSU can manager to go undefeated until they meet in Columbus on the 18th, I cannot see how the winner does not remain/become #1. If OSU wins, they would simply solidify their already strong hold on the #1 spot. If Michigan beats the #1 team in the land on the road, it will take its place at #1.

As for Michigan not doing well in the shoe, I don't quite agree. As you pointed out, Carr is 2-3 in Columbus. That's not bad at all considering OSU has been strong most years since 1994. I agree that OSU does have a formidable home field advantage, but Michigan still manages to do ok against big-time rivals on the road.

Anyway, none of that matters. Michigan has to play very well for the next 2 weeks...without its primary WR. MArio Manningham is out for at least 2 weeks, possibly up to 4 weeks with a minor knee injury. Let us hope we can find ways to score without him (he is responsible for 8 TDs in the last 4 games) and that he is back at 100% when we play OSU 5 weeks hence!

Hey, what happened to Super Mario? I read on the news that he may not be able to play this week against Penn State.

No one knows for sure. It seems like he may have hurt his kneww. The injury isn't bad...and it may be nothing. But you know Michigan...they never disclose injury information. We will know more on Saturday. I personally think Spuer Mario will miss the next couple of games just to be on the samfe side. He will definitely make the trip, but they will most likely not put him on the field.

No, it's bad. Originally thought it was torn/partially torn meniscus. He was reported to have undergone surgery for ACL damage today. This usually takes about 3-6 weeks to recover from, and OSU is in 5 weeks. Given that he's an athlete and that he's Mario, he should be rehabbed and ready to go for the season ender. I'm not sure if we'd risk anything by bothering to bring him back early for Indiana or Ball State.

I agree. He will definitely not be made to play before the OSU game...and that's assuming he recovers entirely from the operation. Otherwise, we may not see him play until January 8th! Hehe!!! Not to worry. Mario is awesome, but AA, Stve Breaston and the young WRs will step it up and Henne and Hart will continue to play well. Now if we can only get past PSU and Iowa. In some ways, this injury to Mario is probably just the medicine our team needed not to get complacent.

Free Press is reporting surgery went well. Lloyd is "very excited about the news we received" regarding the injury. Out 2-3 weeks, should be back for Ball State/Indiana as warmup games.

I can't wait until IU pulls off the upset and tears down the goalposts when we beat Michigan...

... yes i'm a bit drunk right now.

Why are you drunk at 4:15 on a tuesday?

... because i'm at Indiana, and all we do here is party.

i wish i could party all day and night, but i would never want to go to indiana.

A guy with the handle "A2Wolves" refers to Indiana as "we". Sounds schizo if you ask me! LOL!!!

lol, now that i've awoken, I just had a couple beers after class. Then went to sleep. IU is still amazing though. We'll happily beat you in basketball.

Is it just me or does it seem that sometimes the guys who make up the AP Top 25 are midly retarded.
