My daughter got her confirmation that she could audition for Michigan today, but it states in the letter “February 28” as the date. We requested NY unifieds. Aren’t the dates for NY unifieds Jan 31 and Feb 1? They don’t even have Feb 28 listed on their website.

If you look at their website they have February 28 as their date in NYC. They do not participate in the regular Unified auditions in NY.
Also, do you mind telling me when you submitted your application. My D is anxiously awaiting confirmation of her request to audition in Ann Arbor in February.
Thanks

My daughter applied as soon as the application went up. She just heard today. But I am still confused, because they are listed on the unified list (I thought).

I apologize if this is a duplicate-it appears my last reply didn't send.
The Unifieds website is a little misleading. It lists the schools, dates and locations, but doesn't indicate which schools attend which Unifieds.
You need to check the individual schools to make sure of their attendance. UMich does Chicago only so if you don't want to go to Ann Arbor and you want to do a Unified audition look into the Chicago dates which follow NY (midweek). The advantage of NYC is some other schools audition there immediately before and after Unifieds (Emerson, Carnegie, NYU-Tisch and I think some others) so you can really get a lot done in one trip.
Good luck!

Thanks. I guess I just assumed since I saw that they attended unifieds that we could choose either place and date. I'm going to have my daughter keep the February 28 date in NY for U. of Mich and we'll try to schedule other schools at the NY unifieds. Thanks for clearing this up for me. It's confusing with so many schools to keep track of.

Racmom - if you look at the Unifieds website, it says it's the UM Department of Theatre and Drama that participates; however, the MT program is in the Department of Musical Theatre. The MT departmnet just chooses to audition in Chicago at the same time of those Unifieds, but in New York they go on a different weekend.

Thanks. I finally did see this. I made the mistake when I saw the unifieds posted here and assumed they attended both. I am now going back to recheck each school that d. applied to to make sure I have the correct date. She filled out the applications and I never asked if the dates matched the ones I thought. Anyway, my mistake. But thanks to everyone for clearing this up. I hope this is the least of my problems during this process with so many schools.

My son is auditioning for them on October 31st here in Ky. They are coming to college and career day for all the former Govenor's School For The Arts participants.

My D's letter came yesterday inviting her to audition. It said she will be auditioning on the date she requested and that another letter confirming date and time will come within 2 weeks. Has anyone gotten this letter?...I noticed other people said their letter of audition acceptance came with a date-is that only for Unifieds? Can she expect the follow-up letter soon? We are anxious to make reservations while airfare is going down (Florida flights to/from northern states gets crazy in season if you don't book early.) Should she feel confident of the date she requested as they stated in the letter-or wait to book? Any advice...?

I just received my letter to audition in an email and never by mail. it's for the november 21st audition. I would say if they sent you the confirmation you are set for that day. They have contacted me a few times to make sure I was coming and about recommendation letters and things and in each letter my audition date has been written. I, too, am from Florida (West Palm Beach), and the airfare is quite cheap right now so I'm planning on booking a ticket soon. Airtran is $200 roundtrip to Detroit including taxes which seems pretty good!

Bird7887-$200 round trip is great. We can fly to/from FLL for about $250 in February if I book now. It's interesting about the mail-My D has not gotten any emails but she checked her admission status and it showed everything was received. I wonder if they are just concentrating on the upcoming November auditions now and will get to us later for the February auditions. (It will probably be a lot warmer in November LOL...and certainly less snow!)
Good luck-

That's weird, maybe I should call and ask if I should receive a letter in the mail, maybe I will this week. Yes, I hope it is not too cold when I'm up there this month! Us Florida kids will have some fun getting used to this cold weather! Best of luck to your daughter as well!

My kid has only rec'd emails from UMich. Will be there this Friday, 11/21. All details can be found on line on the website. Q to anyone NOT performing the pieces they listed on their application - it said you could change the pieces no problem, but has anyone changing them let U Mich know in advance?? Opinions as to whether we should or not?

I was just curious to find out the time length from when people sent in applications to the conformation of their audition. 4 weeks? 5 weeks? I sent mine in Nov 1. and I'm so anxious to here back from UMich!!!

i got my audition clearance email probably 3 weeks to a month after submitting my application on Sept 15 for the Nov 21 audition. If you haven't heard, I would call and make sure that they have received all of your info, etc... They are super nice about everything, I called tons of times.

I sent my app on Oct. 27 and my school mailed scores, recs, and transcript around Nov. 12. Should I wait another week before I call to make sure they have everything they need?

My D submitted her application Nov 1 and received email notification on Nov 25 (audition date is Jan 23). You can go online to check your application status, as well. Go to Apply Now page, undergraduate admissions and create a Friend Account to be able to go to Wolverine Access. Go to Prospective Student Business to check the status of your application and credentials. Additionally, when the Theater Dept contacts you, they let you know if anything is missing (resume, repertoire list, etc.). Hope that helps.
