Michigan being on the CommonApp

How do you guys think this will affect the accepted applicants? Do you think it will be harder to get in? I feel like being on the commonapp will attract a lot of applicants that aren't really that interested, which may leave some really interested applicants out in the rain. I don't know though. What do you guys think?

I honestly am not too concerned about it because if a bunch of people who aren’t actually interested get admitted, they still will not accept a spot and go elsewhere and Michigan will just have to accept more people. Ultimately maybe a few hundred people that would have gotten in after being waitlisted may not have that opportunity but it should not affect the student body too much. So the acceptance rate should still hover around 50%.

Ok good, phew that makes me feel better :)

It takes a couple of years for the effects of the common app to be felt. I do not expect much of a change in selectivity over the next cycle or two.
