Michigan or Notre Dame for finance

I see that Notre Dame is currently the top ranked school at Businessweek. I am just curious, which school between Ross and Mendoza do you honestly think is better for a future career in finance?

Ross by a mile. BW is a joke. /thread

^^ that. yup

NOVI!!! Shame on you! You should know better than this!

rjkofnovi…seriously? you of all people should know.

I started this thread because someone in the engineering thread here on CC who works for Goldman Sachs assures me that Notre Dame has a bigger name in NYC than Michigan for IBanking. Here are the exact quotes:

“Well I’ll speak to my area of expertise: business, particularly finance. Having worked on the East Coast (NE, NY, FL), while ND doesn’t place at the level of your top top schools, it certainly is a bigger draw than Michigan. I’m from the East Coast myself, and although I acknowledge UM’s relative academic superiority in engineering, I think the prestige of an ND degre is palpably greater out here.”

After I made a comment to that remark, this is what followed:

" I never said that Ross wasn’t a “target” school for NY banks, just that it simply didn’t have the draw of Mendoza. To say that Ross >> Mendoza is simply not backed up by historical recruiting practices and I challenge you to disprove that."

I am not expert in the area of business or finance, but it just seems to me that this so called expert seems to be a bit off. That is why I posed my original question.

I like how he demands you provide statistical evidence to disprove his hunch.

I’m pretty sure whoever said that does not work for GS. If he does, he’s an idiot.

^^A correction to my earlier statement. This person indicated he worked for GS for two years and then left. You can read, and comment if you’d like to, his remarks in the engineering majors section here on CC. The thread it titled, “ND vs UMich Ann Arbor.”
