Michigan State.....

I applied to Michigan State September 8th. It is now October 30. Some of my friends applied way after me and heard back a week or two later. I still haven’t heard anything. I have a 3.6 and a 26 ACT. Should I be worried that it is taking this long?

My son’s school had a special program where you would hear back by the end of September if you submitted your application by early September. Many of his friends were pushed into the regular cycle because MSU was missing a letter of recommendation, an ACT score, received the application a day late, etc… and none of them have heard back either. Just be patient.

Sometimes admissions prioritizes based on Legacy, GPA/ACT range etc… and admits certain kids quickly without much review. MSU might also be deluged with applications. Last year at Michigan lots of EA applications were pushed into RD (legacies were all EA) because there were too many to read before the deadline.

@TooOld4School Country Day?

I applied last year with a 3.8 and 23 act score. It took over a month for a response even though I applied early and when a bunch of people were accepted at the beginning of senior year and I still hadn’t heard back, I panicked. What ended up happening was they wanted to see my first trimester grades before making a final decision but by November I found out that I was accepted. I feel like MSU has weird admissions policies because every other school I applied to responded much quicker, but be patient and try to relax. You most likely will be accepted.

I’m in!
