Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage.
I don't know what to write about for this prompt. I am living in an urban California city, I'm not very religious (kind of a closet Christian), middle class economic level (which seems low class where I'm living), and half hispanic/half white. I lived in Michigan for 15 years of my life, so, I have experience there and here. I hope I don't seem too needy here, but this question threw me off. I was thinking about maybe writing on my ideology because I live a very simple (almost Thoreau-ish lifestyle, enjoying the little things and preferring to walk barefoot as opposed to with shoes). What do you guys think? Thank you all :D.

It could have to do with a group I belong to. There are people who think the same way, and people who think differently. I’m sure you don’t have the same way of thinking as I do.

I was thinking about this essay and I was wondering whether it would be too cliche to talk about my ethnic/national/cultural identity or anything related because I’m an international student. Can I be quite frivolous in this essay by choosing, for example, one of my frivolous interests to write about?
