..for engineering/ business....bring it on

it all comes down to how much money you are willing to spend

assuming money isnt a factor....

they are both highly ranked in both, michigan is a little higher however. ive been accepted to both engineering programs, and i have decided im going to UT for sure, mainly because it is closer to home and the weather is much much better in austin than in ann arbor.

If money didn't matter, I'd probably go to Michigan because it has much less students.

actually, michigan is huge just like UT

The stats I saw said they had about 15,000 less, including grad.

Actually Michigan has about 10,000 less overall. Austin is one of the coolest cities in the country - why go live in a blizzard?

I believe Michigan's national reputation is much stronger across the board. As evidenced by it's position on all the major ranking lists. UT uses Michigan as a benchmark for many of it's programs (esp. business). Some selected engineering programs at UT might rank higher, but this is not widely known. The weather in ann arbor can get a little depressing, but it is a really fun and creative place much like Austin. They are both great schools, but if you are not going to be too bothered by the weather I think you'll get more bang for the buck at Michigan. I for one would hate to see weather keep my kid from going to a top school.

UT for the weather and scene

UM for the big ten and alumni program

"Austin is one of the coolest cities in the country"

Man, you haven't been to a lot of places in the US, have you? I like it better than Dallas or Houston but I still don't think it's one of the coolest in the entire country. The entire east side of Austin, from the Interstate on past, sucks.
