Your chances at U of M are very high. You have great EC's and decent scores, and your in-state status adds a bit of priority to your application. But you're not a shoo-in; someone from my school with a 3.7, SO state medals, impressive ACT scores (I think slightly higher than yours), and in-state status, was waitlisted. However, I'd like to note that he was average in the more ...personality type... facets of the application.

Don't stress. Good luck.

I disagree that your chances at UMich are high. My stats were slightly better. I had a 3.65 UW, 32 ACT, legacy at Michigan + even better EC's then you do (couple of state awards + leadership positions, both of which you don't have). And I was deferred, but accepted later. Another thing I'd like to point out is that many of my friends with similar stats (3.6-3.7 GPA + 31-33 ACT) have been deferred then accepted/rejected and one with a 3.7 + 33 actually deferred/waitlisted. Keep in mind, these students are all in-state as well.

UMich (In-State) - Slight Reach
USC (Cali not Carolina) - Slight Reach
NYU - Slight Reach
BU - Match / Safe Match
Miami OH - Match / Safe Match
UNC - Chapel Hill - Slight Reach / Reach

Maybe I was being overly optimistic, and maybe I wasn't. However, I'd like to point out that a lot of the observations we have regarding other people's decisions is anecdotal; there may be factors that we don't care to mention or that we simply don't know, factors that may influence the decision positively or negatively. In addition, I think we can both name one person who got into UM for every one person with high stats who was rejected.

And you WERE eventually accepted, n'est-ce pas?

Perhaps I should also better define "very high." To me, that means 55-65%.

bad GPA few EC's

Not In at any except colorado

Ratings on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Kenyon College... SEMI-REACH.
UMich (In-State)... GOOD FIT.
University of Southern California... REACH.
Denison... GOOD FIT.
Pitzer... SEMI-REACH.
NYU... SEMI-REACH.
BU... GOOD FIT.
Miami OH... LIKELY.
Colorado College... SEMI-REACH.
UNC - Chapel Hill... REACH.

BUMP!

thanks.

Colorado as semi-reach, littleathiest? I disagree, I'd say that Colorado isn't higher than a high match.

You're in Michigan easy. People overestimate how hard it is to get in. If you're in-state it's so easy. I know people are going to get rip me, but it's a joke. People from my school (in-state) get in with 21-26 ACTs. One kid from my school who got suspended for something really nasty even got in. I got in OOS (specific residency issue) with similar stats as you.

Kenyon College Slight Reach
UMich (In-State) Match
USC (Cali not Carolina) Slight Reach
BU Match
Miami OH Safe Match
UNC - Chapel Hill (OOS) Reach
