microeconomics-bad curve first semester?

Is it true that it is better to wait until second semester to take micro economics because the first semester curve is harsh?

All I know is that, if you’re speaking to Econ 001 & 002, you have to take 001 before 002 (Micro, then Macro). See [Undergraduate Program | UPenn Economics Department](Undergraduate Program | Department of Economics) for more details.

It’s easier in the spring, yes, but econ 001 is hardly what I’d consider a “harsh curve.”

So…would it be your opinion that there’s not a huge difference between taking econ now vs. spring semester?

I wouldn’t plan things like this. There will be much harder classes to come. From past experience, I would try to do everything I can at the first chance
One tip is that many freshman get sidetracked by activities and making new friends their first semester. Almost everyone I know did better after their first semester - this could explain the supposed difference in difficulty :)

I’m pretty sure the tests are easier in the spring and less material is covered (or at least it was last year) but it really isn’t that hard of a class to begin with, and like foxdie said it’s not good to really plan all of your classes out based on when they should be easier.
