Mid tier accounting firm exit opps??

Just wondering what you all think about exit opps at midtier accounting firms like BDO and Grant Thornton? I doubt they stand up to those of the big 4, but please correct me if im wrong.

I think the idea is they have a good shot at getting jobs at the types of companies they audit(so probably not Fortune 100 controller type jobs). I’m hoping to get an internship with GT or another top 10 firm(was too arrogant for my Big Four interviews or god knows what), get my CPA experience and enough work experience to get in a good MBA program. Then hopefully get beyond the typical jobs that are for former public accountants and into more interesting things.

At this point, I’d be happy to get an internship with any of them. I applied to BDO’s summer leadership program, and waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully I get accepted to that and it leads to an internship. I’ve been thinking about possibly making a long term career out of public accounting, but I still want to have other options just in case.

Jonah, are u doing the master’s route? If so, have u taken the GMAT yet? Just trying to get a feel for where I need to be in order to get into the school and job I want.

I take the GMAT later this month.

Just gonna bump this one up and hope for some more responses.
