I think I have a good chance for getting in UVA (2270 SAT, 4.375 GPA, 7 AP's, lots of music extracurricultars, and I'm an in state legacy). But, after getting an A for the 1st quarter in AP Lit, I could end up with a C for the second quarter (I got a lousy grade on one assignment and I now have a B- for my interim grade).

What are the chances that a grade like this will trip me up (I should get A's in all my other classes)?

Thanks for any advice.

I don’t think it’ll affect you that much. Your stats are on par and you said you would get A’s in everything else. An A and a C is still a B for your average in that class. Good luck!

Will the Committee see both quarter grades or just the semester?

Also, should have mentioned that UW GPA is 4.0 and ACT Comp Score is 35.

I got a D for English in my last quarter unintentionally – it was AP exam time and I basically kept postponing assignment after assignment or handing them late. It didn’t turn out too bad – I got 30 AP credits, which is worth (in my opinion) the final year grades tradeoff that no one will see once you get into college…

WuTangForeva,

So you were accepted with a D in your final quarter?!?! Not planning on that, but hopefully if I can keep my average for the first two quarters at a B, then everything will be OK.

Thanks for your input.

How many people get their “mid” year grades before the end of January? How do we send these to UVa?

^^^ Never mind. Found the forms on the Common App supplement.
