Hi everyone, I'm an international student who have been accepted to Smith under ED1 and I'm super excited to attend \m/

However, I'm now a bit worried about grades.
My GPA has dropped from 90% last year to about 83%-84% this semester.

I did not slack off, but because students in my country have to take the University Entrance Exam after graduation, classes in senior year are wayyy harder for exam preparation. I as well study in a very selective school, and not just me, most of my classmates also suffer from grade declines. This semester is almost over so I can do nothing to raise my GPA now.

I'm wondering if Smith requires the mid year grades? If it does, will that GPA drop affect my current admission?
Thank you very much :)

Congratulations! Your admissions material should tell you what additional information the school needs, but you will likely at least need to provide your final grades for the year. The GPA drop is probably OK but you should contact the admissions office if you’re worried.

Yes you will need to furnish all senior year grades. It’s unlikely that your offer of admission will be withdrawn on this basis but I agree you should contact your admissions officer and provide an explanation for the decline. Good luck.

Plus, you will need to assure Smith that you have graduated from your high school. Unless you fall a letter grade or more, I would think that your admission is not going to be pulled. However, if I was the Dean of Admissions, I’d want to get to the bottom of what happened to impact grades since whatever it is might continue forward at Smith. (not good, possibly).
