Mid Year Grades Submission

My son will be submitting his mid years next week as requested by UPitt. He’s a little nervous. He has great grades with the exception of 1 class. At the beginning of the semester he received a low score on a test and quiz which is pulling his grade down to a C. He apparently didn’t understand one concept and didn’t get the quiz grade back before the test so he did it wrong twice. The teacher doesn’t allow for retakes, extra credit or anything else. Per his teacher, after the low test grade he worked very hard to get high Bs for the rest of the term. We were going to send in a letter from her along with the grades. Do you think this is a valuable thing to do? I see various threads stating that recommendations are not needed except under special circumstances. I think this may fall into that category.

WE just submitted my son’s mid year grades. I would include the letter-from what I have read Pitt seems to welcome explanations of grades etc. if necessary.

Did anyone receive a decision after submitting 1st semester grades?
