so how BAD does your mid year report actually have to be for colleges to rescind your acceptance?

Mid years? End of semester grades are what matter. Ds, Fs, Fraud and Felonies – the big four to avoid.

@T26E4 okay so As and Bs (and maybe one C) won’t kill me (even if its an ivy league school)??

If you’re talking about getting EA/ED rescinded, I don’t think I’ve ever heard about that happening based on anything other than a terrible final transcript. Perhaps the worst that could happen is if they got a 1st semester grade report that was pretty horrible, they might send a warning letter telling you you are in jeopardy, but I suppose anything is possible.

If you really think about it, the odds of them accepting you EA/ED with a weak first semester are really pretty slim - they generally do get a mid-term report before accepting you, so if that’s weak, they won’t give you the offer. The odds of you going from acceptable to in-the-tank are pretty remote. Which is why students should never ever think that elite schools won’t see some form of mid-semester report before giving out EA/ED offers - just doesn’t happen, although many think it does.
