Middle of the road student

Okay,

Here's what I can rememeber off the top of my head

GPA: 3.8
Class Rank: 24/208 but school does not report it

Special circumstances: missed some school while an exchange student, still got grades that semester (came back at halloween time) and they were low, so my transcript looks a little better than my GPA says, skipped a year of Spanish, etc.

AP Euro sophomore year, Full IB schedule since (with 1 addl IB class on top of diploma stuff) - diploma candidate

SAT: 680 R/740 W/740 W - 2160
SAT II: 600 USH/680 Math II/740 Lit
(I will not be reporting these unless required to)
(I took the SAT in October and did much better I think)

ACT: 34 E/36 M/33 R/28 S - 33 comp
(I will be retaking this weekend, reasonably confident my science will go up considerably)

AP: 3 AP Euro
IB: 4 Chem/6 Econ (you test in most IB classes during senior year only, two year classes)

Extracurriculars:
Lacrosse, 2 years JV/2 years Varsity, no other honors
GSA treasurer, 11th and 12th grade
Human rights club, 11th grade
put in ~350-400 hrs so far volunteering at my local zoo in education dept. over all 4 years
Active member of youth leadership org., participant in 11th, structured an internship for myself last summer there, on the leadership board this year
Was an exchange student in Norway for 2.5 months
Spent a short but transformative time in Guatemala last summer, great essay fodder
Choir (outside of school, secular), in more selective ensemble in 12th grade, did it all 4 years
School swimming (11th and 12th), rec soccer (all 4) - I'll mention these but they aren't priorities

Other:
National merit semifinalist, finalist expected
Honor roll at the second high school I attended (first high school didn't have it) - 11th and 12th grade

My list is still incomplete. I keep finding safeties and then hating them. And I will definitely cut some of my reaches. Sooo...

Barnard (ED) - 1st choice
Columbia
Brown
Pomona
Tufts
Haverford
Colorado College
Smith
Boston U
Tulane
Northeastern
Simon Frasier

It’s a good list. Nothing anyone says here as far as chances will make any difference, but certainly with your stats you have schools that will be tough to get into and schools you should get in no problem, so apply and see what happens. I think you have a pretty good shot at Barnard.
