Hey, new to the forum and I was just wondering: what impact, if any, do middle school accomplishments make? For example, I founded a new club and was the president of 3 clubs, and was captain of both the 2nd place (in the entire state) math team and the 2nd place academic team, both in major competitions, and individually won some statewide math team honors. Do colleges care anything about these accomplishments?

No. I believe high school only, but many people write they have done this for so many years.

Unfortunately, colleges are interested only in your high school accomplishments. Listing your middle school ones would make them think that you rely on your old glory only and haven’t improved at all during high school.

i’m not a professional on this topic, but it seems like you should be able to briefly mention your middle school accomplishments (so as to not distract attention from more recent accomplishments but to also show how active you were back then.) ask your guidance counselor!

Unless it’s something extremely amazing (e.g. winning mathcounts nationals) I wouldn’t put it. Focus on high school activities.

If you’ve been playing piano since you were 11, you can write that. If you played piano from ages 11-13, you don’t write that.
