Hi! I'm a junior. I was wondering if you can include middle school activities on college apps. When I was in middle school I was an editor for our school newspaper (1 year) and one of the leaders of the video broadcast news (2 years). I haven't had those opportunities at my smaller high school, but I'm still thinking about journalism and/or graphic design as my major(s), and I know the video news teacher and newspaper sponsor would give me great recs. Would it be okay to talk about these, alongside all my high school stuff? Thanks.

no never put middle school activities on college resume/activity lists

No don’t put middle school stuff.

Okay, thanks. Kind of a bummer because that experience has had a huge impact on me, but I’ve done lots of high school stuff, too.

Yea, putting the middle school activities would make it seem like you’re trying to stretch your experience. Maybe you need to do a journalism program over the summer if some are still taking apps&& explain in your essays next year about how experiencing __program or whatever you can find influenced your decision as before you didn’t know.
