Middlebury Accepted Students Stats

Hey everyone,

I was just accepted to Midd 2023.5, and I found that looking at other applicants’ stats was helpful when I was looking at schools. So, I’m going to post mine, anyone else can feel free to post theirs :slight_smile:

Demographics:
-White & Middle Eastern
-Female
-Live in Virginia

Major:
-Environmental policy & global studies

Current Year Courses- AP Biology, AP Psychology, Calculus (regular), English, Environmental Research elective, Latin IV
(my school does not offer any honors courses and does not offer AP English)

APs:
Last year I took the AP Comparative World Politics, AP US Government, AP Environmental Science, and AP English Language APs (I self-studied for lang). I got all 5s

Stats:
1320 SAT (not submitted lol)
33 ACT (36 English, 35 Reading, 30 Math, 30 Science)
My school does not calculate GPA, but I have gotten straight As for the past three years. I used an online calculator and got that my cumulative GPA is a 3.8, but excluding freshman year it is a 4.0 UW. Weighted it is around a 4.3-4.4.

ECS:
-Student Tour Guide
-Volleyball (school and travel, captain and voted MVP)
-Worked as a volleyball coach and referee for my local recreational league
-Head of environmental club
-Model UN
-Member of a club where we mentored incoming freshmen
-I did a summer program every year I was in high school. I think my name is on the website so I’m not going to share the specific names of the programs, just know that they were summer classes involving environmental science. If anyone is interested just PM me.

Research:
-I worked with a local conservation organization as an intern and I also did community service and research at the park. I conduced research on micro plastics in the park and am trying to get my work published.
-I also worked on a research vessel for a few weeks over the summer

My college counselor called my essay one of the best she had ever read. And the teachers i asked for LOR from all love me.

  1. Moderator for large tech community over 300,000 members. Do significant work with this. I work directly with major companies to coordinate weekly events including giveaways and AMAs. A few of the people I've worked with are ranked as some of the most influential people in Silicon Valley. (700+ hrs)
  2. Member and treasurer of my Local city's Youth Council. We do a ton of volunteer work and other various things.
  3. Cross Country (Varsity)
  4. Track and Field (Varsity)
  5. Squash (Club)
  6. Working for School Tech Department over this summer. (30 hrs / week)
  7. Setting up wiring/electronics in home and several local businesses
  8. Involved with the production of a local school poetry competition (Sophomore, Junior, and hopefully Senior years)

  10. Found and responsibly disclosed vulnerabilities in several websites. Got cash rewards.

Hook: Personal Statement was about passion for food studies and desire to one day work in food policy. Spoke heavily about it during the interview. Had a wonderful discussion over the phone with head Food Studies prof before applying.
One teacher likely mentioned it in her recommendation
