Hello everyone,

Before I begin, I want to apologize if I have posted this message under the wrong forum. After doing a fair amount of research, I'm having trouble getting an answer to my question. Google seems to be of little help for once. Is it possible to attend Middlebury for undergraduate school and still get in to a top business grad school? After looking at the options Middlebury has to offer, their Russian as well as their International Politics & Economics majors both really appeal to me. I'm a very hard worker, and I know that's what it takes to get into a good grad school, but does Middlebury have the namesake and the classes available to obtain a good internship and a top graduate business school?

Thanks for the help!

(By top b-school I'm referring to places like HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, etc.)

Top b-schools look at work experience. In general work experience> undergrad work

Undergraduate ranking/experience –> internship recruiting –> full time offer –> b-school

From the looks of it, recruiting at Middlebury is primo. Although, I’m not sure how updated it is, since Lehman Brothers is still listed… nor am I sure of the hire volume & rate out of Middlebury for top firms. These firms would not hire out of a campus that does not have promising students. So, I assume that Middlebury offers the necessary courses. Since these firms have recruited at Middlebury at one time or another, I also assume that it has the namesake you’re looking for.

I would call the recruiting office for good measure:

Thank you both for the replies. I especially appreciate the links and the number. I know that requires a lot of typing. I’ll take your advice and call Career Services. I’ll also examine the links. As to youknowme, do you think that many of these “golden” internships require certain schools in order to get accepted? My working knowledge of getting into a b-school is undergrad leads to internship, which then in large part leads to a good b-school.

No worries. I’m a fast typer ;)

Thanks for the list. The info is a little more outdated than I’d like it to be honestly, but it seems to be hard to find more current undergrad results. I don’t think I would be wrong in assuming a list from 2004 is overly outdated however. At worst, I’d expect Middlebury to move up/down only a few positions.

I stole this post from a recent Middlebury discussion, but it might be of some use here. It lists the top 30 undergraduate programs in terms of GMAT scores. You’ll notice that Middlebury does quite well in this regard. It’s important to note also, that the difference in average score from number 1 to number 30 is a mere 38 points
