Good luck!
Thanks - my applicant D is still asleep! Need to find something to keep me-self busy … LOL
Mine is still asleep, too.
Any idea on release dates for other NE small LAC’s (e.g., Bates, Colby, Amherst?)
I want to congratulate everyone who was accepted. I applied and was waitlisted. If anyone is interested in the caliber of students who were accepted or not, I’ll provide my info.

Again, congrats to those accepted
@karlmarx2020
Sounds like you have lots of choices
Where were you accepted to
Son accepted for regular Fall admission but did see some posters say they got Feb. admit. I think its an awesome option. By the way I think Middlebury gives some great ideas of what to do with that gap semester on their FAQ about feb. admission and looks for applicants who are very mature who they know would be successful coming in Feb.
Got accepted for February Admission! First college that I’ve been admitted to for non fall admit.
D also admitted as Feb Admit. I think it’s a great option, too. When we were visiting the student tour guide said all of the students who entered in the fall are super excited for the new students to arrive in Feb. Can anyone confirm that? I worried that the Fall admits might think the Feb. admit as less prestigious. Not that I really care, but I just wondered how they are received by the current student body.
Hello @Mayzie my S is a septenber freshman, really, they are excited with the arrival of Feb admitted. They are not considered less prestigious between the current student body, they only start their studies in the spring term. Congratulations,
Thank you so much! @jandro
After doing some research about Feb. admits, I’m still confused. What criteria would lead the adcoms to admit a student under Feb. admission vs Fall? Is it seen as a good thing? Just curious, as in my research it seems like there are both advantages and disadvantages to February admit.
The FEB admits have a way cooler graduation – they ski down in cap and gown. Even kids that don’t ski do on that day (with the help of their friends). Now that is memorable!
Agree with @jandro ! My D is a September freshman as well. She co-led a FOO (Feb outdoor orientation) trip a few weeks ago so has already gotten to know quite a few Febs. She says they are still pretty tight with each other right now since they just went through orientation and are still so new to Middlebury. But they integrate quickly. In fact D is excited that a number of Febs have already joined the fly fishing club (literally doubling their size).
The Febs are an incredibly talented group, not at all a less prestigious group, simply a group of kids admissions thinks will embrace the opportunities a fall semester can provide. Congrats to all the new Middkids!!!
Congrats to those of you who were accepted! Be sure to check out the class Facebook group for forthcoming information about enrollment/roommates/ect!
I got rejected. It’s unfortunate because Middlebury is so cool and I applied to even more selective schools. Good luck everyone else though!
WAITLISTED!!!
@ISpy42 - What?!? My daughter will think that graduation ceremony is way cool. (She just left for Palm Springs for spring break this morning, so I’ll have to wait to tell her this fun fact.) She won’t have a problem skiing down as we live in Colorado.
@lr4550 - Thanks for the info. My D indicated on her app that she’d accept either a Fall or a Feb admit. In fact, it’s perfect for her, cause she had considered a gap year. So now she has a gap semester.
@Mayzie and @frenchtoastlover, my son is a Feb, and a senior this year. The Feb group is very, very close knit and there are a lot of perks to being a Feb. Probably one of the best is the choice of dorms when they arrive. The dorms occupied by Juniors and Seniors who have left to study abroad are often the ones the Febs get, so that means usually more spacious, not the typical freshman dorm. My son has never had a small, typical dorm room with two beds close together his entire time at Middlebury. His first dorm room, he had basically his own room, as did his roommate, very spacious with a connecting open doorway. The Febs remain close their entire time at Middlebury. When they graduate, as was mentioned, they get to ski down the Middlebury-owned ski slope. They do have the option, however, to “walk” in May with the rest of the class, but my son and his friends are not interested in doing this, as they don’t feel like they are actually “graduating” yet., and they want to walk with the other Febs. As you may know, also, Middlebury has a “commons” system. Each student is assigned to a “commons” group (the best way I could describe it is the sorting hat system on Harry Potter). They remain a part of their commons the entire time at Middlebury (and for life!) so they try to house the students with and close to other members of their commons. When they arrive in Feb. there is an amazing welcome ceremony that really will warm your heart. The other students are waiting for them with big banners, cheering loudly as soon as you pull into the parking lot, and there are all kinds of activities for them to do to feel a part of Middlebury immediately. There is a convocation ceremony just for the Febs in the chapel that the parents are also a part of, and a dinner just before that (there is a meet and greet following this ceremony also, and more activities the next morning for the parents to meet other Feb parents, etc.) Other benefits of course are the opportunity to work June through January, which my son took advantage of, giving him a good amount of full time work experience, and also making him ready to return to college in Feb. (after having a taste of what a full time job is actually like!) When they graduate, they also have the advantage of about 6 months to travel, volunteer, whatever, before beginning graduate school the following Sept., if that is their plan. The Febs are a unique group of kids and seem to be more or less hand picked for that position - have unusual passions, or, as someone else has mentioned, a proven ability to adapt and be flexible in many situations. My son has loved being a Feb!
